Art Omi

Last week I went upstate NY to an artist's compound on an old farm called Art Omi.
There is a newly built visitor's center there, complete with a nice little cafe.
The sculpture park spreads out over several acres and the pieces are built into every nook and cranny of the land.
I was up there helping to reinstall a piece, so I only had so much time to check out the other works, but here is what I saw:

the visitors center

the piece I was helping to reinstall

buckshot on suspended metal
a planed tree that stretched out into the swamp (unfortch the water has rotten out sections hindering any safe distance)
clever use of space and time

some good
some bad
some irreverent (I love it)
and the plain ole cheeky

this is right out in front of the visitor center. interesting how its form seems to change according to your perspective.
this is from inside.
from behind it reminded me of an evening gown.
no?

These are just a few of the things to see up there. I probably only saw like 30% or so. Also they do artist residencies.
If you have any free time, I would say its worth it to take a nice little day trip there. Pack a picnic and head upstate!

And now you know.

cool looking stuff. suggestion: take the resolution down on those photos- they more than fill the screen when I click.

yeah, unsure on why that happened... especially because I uploaded them as small... hmmm...

I actually enjoy the size of a full screen cup...Makes it come to life...Keep the res high on the cup.
