ICFF

What a gigantic paradox this show is!
Never knew that I could be simultaneously overwhelmed whilst being completely underwhelmed.
(A complete newbie to ICFF for sure.)
It wasn't all for naught as I was completely blown away by one piece there...

Periodic Designed by One & Co for Council Design:

Detail:

This sucker is made out of metallized reclaimed lumber. Wholly impressive when considering the process of plating something non-metallic. This sucker was most likely bathed in Nickel or Copper before it could get the Silver! My guess is, this is why it is named Periodic?
Knowing that this is not an easy process (plating most things is not) I had to ask the price point...
Somewhere around $45,000.00.

Damn Yankees

Well its been a long while since I remember seeing this:

TEAM W L % GB
Tampa Bay 24 17 .585 -
Boston 24 19 .558 1.0
Baltimore 21 19 .525 2.5
Toronto 21 22 .488 4.0
New York 20 22 .476 4.5

I then wondered when that actually was...

April 6, 1998...was the last time they were in Fifth place. They were 1-4.
The last time they were alone in last place after 19 games (like this year), was April 21, 1997...and they had the exact same record, 8-11.
June 20, 1995 was the last time they owned last place anytime after April. They were 20-29.

Notorious B.I.G. : Party and Bullshit (Ratatat Remix)

AND it seems as if the fellas are going the prolific route, as they announce a new record to be released for July 8th on XL!

LP3... makes sense!

Also, it is rumored that they will release another single from the forthcoming record LP4!
That is a lot of exclamation.

Hearts on Fire

I have a feeling, I know what will be getting the kids on the floor this summer...
A few years ago I saw these guys play at the Tribeca Grand. It was fine.
This track isn't my most favorite on the album, but it is good none the less.
The record is equal parts new wave, dance rock and shoegaze with a touch of freestyle.
Makes sense being that it was produced by DFA's Tim Goldsworthy.
Well done Tim!

J'adore

I've got a real soft spot for this beauty:
Set of four Jacaranda chairs with curved backs and cane seats. Designed by Joaquim Tenreiro, Brazil, circa 1960. 20" L x 22.5" W x 29" H

These are available at R 20th Century and are not cheap.

The Cast

A few months ago, I stumbled into a small subterranean shop/showroom on Ludlow St. called The Cast. I met one of the owners who was extremely helpful and a very cool guy (dude is originally from down the shore, so it goes without saying...). If I had any more money, I would have walked out of there with a custom suit. I believe they have since moved their showroom into a different space, but you can check out their stuff here:

Do not miss the amazing "Jaw Ashtray" which is a collaboration with Black Sheep & Prodigal Sons.

Cheap Time

Only one song is over three minutes (by three seconds) on this romp of a record!
This one is called Glitter and Gold.
Enjoy...

GTA IV

Those of you who know me, know that I am a gamer. So it goes without saying that I went out and bought the highly anticipated and latest release of the Grand Theft Auto series. While playing with a friend recently, he informed me that I could take a helicopter to the Statue of Liberty, jump out and get into the statue. He said that supposedly, I would find something of great interest. Lo and behold, the beating heart of Liberty City....
