Absent

Sorry, been kind of busy as of late. Haven't really had a moment to update this piece.
Fortunately, this neglect doesn't affect to TOO many people!

Anyway.
Here is a site that I like! Its nicely done and charts things like "10 best power strip designs". Also, "classic car user interfaces" as seen below:

Check more of it out here:

Lots of neat stuff.

So Typical

This is such a classic Yankee pick up right here...
Go after the washed up old guys! Prove me wrong Richie.
It makes sense though I guess. Get a righty that is proven against left-handed pitchers. Who would have thought the big issue this year would be the bats?
Actually for the most part our pitching has been fine. We could use a hard throwing starting lefty but, the bullpen has been pretty good.
So, looks like Richie Sexson is a Yankee.

Fast Cars

For those of you who know me, know that I love my car. I spent quite sometime looking high and low for her...
Lorraine, my beautiful baby:
Mercedes Benz 300 TE

From time to time, I dream about a 2 or 3 car garage and wonder what type of car I would put next to her. (Given I had an endless supply of cash of course!).
For this post, I am going to focus on fast cars that have caught my eye.

When I was younger it was the 911/ 912, but forget all that... this is the one:

Porsche 928 s4

If Steve McQueen drove one, then you know it was as fast as it was cool:

Ferrari 250 GT Lusso

Had to show you the back side of this one... (This one also gets points for the model lettering. Wink.) :

MG C GT

Not just because I hale from New Jersey either. This car is not playing. Plus remember the late 90's when all cars looked like pain reliever gel capsules? This is a 96. They kept these lines through 2000.) :

Cadillac Eldorado ETC

Man oh man how I do like those Benz:

Mercedes Benz 280 SL

Sound of Color

Has anyone else heard of this?
I stumbled across it searching for The Raveonettes on You Tube.
The idea is 5 bands do a song based on color and then 5 different directors do videos for the tracks.
I guess the Gap and Rehab commissioned this, but I kind of had to do a little detective work to find them all. (www.soundofcolor.com gave me no response!)
So, if you haven't checked this out already, here is the Sound of Color...
(My fave is The Raveonettes take, so I'll start there.)

Art Omi

Last week I went upstate NY to an artist's compound on an old farm called Art Omi.
There is a newly built visitor's center there, complete with a nice little cafe.
The sculpture park spreads out over several acres and the pieces are built into every nook and cranny of the land.
I was up there helping to reinstall a piece, so I only had so much time to check out the other works, but here is what I saw:

the visitors center

the piece I was helping to reinstall

buckshot on suspended metal
a planed tree that stretched out into the swamp (unfortch the water has rotten out sections hindering any safe distance)
clever use of space and time

some good
some bad
some irreverent (I love it)
and the plain ole cheeky

this is right out in front of the visitor center. interesting how its form seems to change according to your perspective.
this is from inside.
from behind it reminded me of an evening gown.
no?

These are just a few of the things to see up there. I probably only saw like 30% or so. Also they do artist residencies.
If you have any free time, I would say its worth it to take a nice little day trip there. Pack a picnic and head upstate!
